Reed Hastings co-founded Netflix in 1997. In 1991, Reed founded Pure Software, which made tools for software developers. After a 1995 IPO, and several acquisitions, Pure was acquired by Rational Software in 1997. Reed is an active educational philanthropist and served on the California State Board of Education from 2000 to 2004.
Netflix is excited to host the Druid User meetup group. Fangjin is a co-author of the open source Druid project and a co-founder of Imply, a San Francisco based technology company. Fangjin previously held senior engineering positions at Metamarkets (now a part of Snapchat) and Cisco. He holds a BASc in Electrical Engineering and a MASc in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada.
Vivek is a senior engineer on the cloud infrastructure data engineering team at Netflix. His primary focus is on surfacing Netflix application performance metrics to help UI teams build consistent and performant user experiences for Netflix members worldwide. Prior to joining Netflix he worked in the financial services sector generating investment insights using big data.
Samarth is an engineer on the Big Data Platform team at Netflix where he helps run Druid among other things. He is a Druid contributor and a PMC member for Apache Phoenix. He has been working in the infrastructure software space for the last few years and is generally interested in scalability and optimization problems in the big data space.
